The Oamaruvian Revolution (50cl, 46%)

The Oamaruvian Revolution is a New Zealand single malt from The New Zealand Whisky Collection, and the first release the house has distilled and matured entirely itself. It is made from 100% New Zealand malted barley, distilled in pot stills and bottled at 46% in a 50cl bottle. It matured first in ex-bourbon American oak casks, then spent 18 months in French oak Pinot Noir casks. It rested in a bondstore on the Oamaru coast. It is non-chill filtered and its amber colour is natural. Cherry, caramelised sugar, cinnamon, light tobacco and orange peel lead the nose. Strawberry and raspberry meet buttery toffee and salted caramel on the palate, and the finish carries a light sea note.
