The Real McCoy 12 Year Old Single Blended Rum (75cl, 40%)

The Real McCoy 12 Year Old is a Barbados rum made in small batches from molasses and spring water. It is distilled in a combination of column and pot stills, bottled at 40% in a 75cl bottle. The rum spends a full 12 years in heavy char American oak ex-bourbon barrels, and the maker's fourth-generation master distiller is behind it. It suits sipping neat or over ice, and works in an Old Fashioned, a Rumhattan or an Old Cuban. The nose offers buttery oak, earthy notes and spicy dark chocolate. On the palate come caramel, wood and spice, orange zest and a hint of tobacco. The finish is soft and structured, with peppery spice and a hint of smoke.
