The Senator Barrel Proof 6 Year Old is a small-batch straight rye whiskey in a 750ml bottle, bottled by Proof & Wood Ventures in Bardstown, Kentucky. It is undiluted and non-chill filtered, so the strength varies from batch to batch.
The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley. The whiskey was distilled at MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, aged for at least six years in new charred oak, and mingled from roughly 10 to 20 barrels. The six years nod to a senator's term, which gives the whiskey its name.
Tasting notes for a representative batch mention lemon meringue and citrus on the nose, cinnamon candy and lemon zest on the palate, and light tobacco with citrus on the finish.
