This Glen Elgin is a 13 year old single malt finished in Sauternes casks, in a 70cl bottle at 52.5% ABV. It was distilled in June 2008 and bottled in August 2021, with an outturn of 298 bottles, as part of the Whisky Cellar Series 3.
Bright gold in colour, it is a Speyside malt with a fuller body than most and a luscious fruit character.
The nose is intensely sweet, with honeyed yellow stone fruits and bold floral notes. On the palate the sweetness of the Sauternes comes with aniseed, buttery bakes and dark honey, and the finish is long and very sweet.
