This is a single malt from Aultmore, bottled by Thompson Bros at 13 years old. It was distilled in 2009 and matured in an ex-red wine cask, then bottled in 2022 at 50% ABV with natural colour. 285 bottles were filled.
The nose is sweet but not aggressive, with strawberry tart, cranberry sauce, cinnamon and maple syrup, plus pineapple and fermenting plums. The spirit is not hidden behind the red wine character.
On the palate there are soft red fruits, blueberries and strawberries, with touches of wood spice, incense and gentle oak, and a cinnamon-spiced cranberry compote. The finish is long and slightly dry, with lingering spice and soft red berries.
