Thomson New Zealand Single Malt Whisky Quercus Alba Single Cask #23 (70cl, 46%)

This is a single cask single malt from Thomson Whisky, a craft distillery on New Zealand's South Island. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, with no colouring added. The whisky was matured in a heavily charred virgin American oak cask that was filled with Manuka Smoke Single Malt. The distillery has worked with regional ingredients since 2014, using smoke from New Zealand peat and manuka wood. Just 239 bottles were filled from this cask. The nose offers vanilla, fine black tea and spicy clove. The palate is full and complex, with honeyed manuka oils and smoky touches. The finish is long, warm and gently sweet, with a light woodiness.
