Thomson – Quercus Alba Single Cask (70cl, 46%)

Quercus Alba, the Latin name for American white oak, is a single cask release from Thomson in New Zealand, limited to 250 bottles at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Its Manuka Smoke single malt was made from local malt smoked over native Manuka wood, then double distilled in copper pot stills. It was matured in a heavily charred virgin American oak barrel, which brought rich tannins, dark toffee and deep wood flavours. The notes are vanilla, black tea, clove and Manuka oils.
