Two Tone is a New Zealand whisky from Thomson Whisky Distillery in Riverhead, Auckland. It is made from 100% New Zealand-grown malted barley and bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
The name refers to its two maturations: European oak ex-New Zealand red wine barrels and American oak ex-bourbon barrels. Red wine tannins sit alongside vanilla, caramel and toasted grain.
The nose has stewed red berries, vanilla and caramel. On the palate come red wine plums, honeyed cereal and butterscotch, then nutmeg, citrus peel and gentle oak. The finish is medium in length, clean and warm.
