This is Tomatin 12 Year Old, a core single malt from the Highlands distillery, in a 70cl bottle. It was given an update in 2014, when the bottling strength rose to 43% from the previous 40%.
The whisky matures in bourbon casks and is then finished for six to nine months in Oloroso sherry casks.
The nose opens buttery, with raisin and almond following. On the palate come oaky vanilla and fresh mint, with stem ginger and dried orange peel. The finish brings currant buns, a hint of raspberry jam and barley.
