Tomatin – 12 Year Old Rivesaltes 2008 (The French Collection) (46%)

This is a 12-year-old Tomatin from the Highlands, the third release in The French Collection, a series of four. It was bottled at 46%, without filtration and in its natural colour. It was distilled in September 2008 and first filled into traditional Scottish oak casks. In July 2017 it moved to Rivesaltes casks, and it was bottled in March 2021. Each release in the series numbers 6,000 bottles. The palate is led by contrasting sweet and bitter flavours, held together by underlying barley. The finish is velvety, and the flavour stays on the palate for some time.
