Tomatin – 12 Years 2010 Italian Collection Marsala Cask

This is a 12 year old Highland single malt from Tomatin, distilled in 2010. It belongs to the Italian Collection, a set of three releases matured in Italian wine casks. The whisky spent ten years in ex-bourbon casks, then a further two years in casks that previously held Marsala, the fortified wine from Sicily. The nose is warming, with spices such as ginger alongside honeycomb and toffee, plus a hint of tobacco and orange fruit. On the palate come orange peel, peppery spice, toffee and subtle almond. The finish is citrus with notes of toasted oak.
