Tomatin – 18 Years Old

Tomatin 18 Years Old is a Highland single malt from Tomatin Distillery. The distillery was founded in 1897 in an isolated setting where the locals were scattered shepherds and drovers, so the company built housing for its staff. The nose is fairly spicy with good body: chewy grapes and sultana, winter spices, clove and cinnamon, then vanilla toffee and very smooth smoke woven through cut grass and apple peel. The palate is fairly sweet and full, with barley sugar, honeycomb and hints of chocolate orange and cocoa over toasted oak. The finish is long and powerful, with dry, chewy oak and a touch of pepper.
