This is a 32-year-old Tomatin single malt from the 1981 vintage, dated 21 April 1981. It matured in an Oloroso sherry butt and was bottled in May 2014 at 42.3% ABV, in a 70cl bottle.
It is a limited release, with 405 bottles drawn from the one cask. Tomatin is made in the Highlands, south of Inverness.
The nose is soft and honeyed, with gentle aniseed, Darjeeling tea leaves and banoffee pie with a minty undertone. The palate is rich, sweet and mature, with lightly roasted hazelnuts and almonds and stewed plums, while the oak stays subtle. The finish is soft and creamy, with a hint of coconut.
