This Tomatin 1990 is a 28 year old single malt bottled by Gordon & Macphail for its Connoisseurs Choice range. It was matured in a refill American hogshead and bottled at a cask strength of 47.9%, in a 70cl bottle. Only 206 bottles were released.
Ripe banana, toffee, pear candy and sugared violets lead the nose, with waxy lemon, marzipan and soft leather. The palate is creamy, with mango, papaya, brown sugar and roasted hazelnut, turning to pink grapefruit and vanilla crème brûlée. The finish is lingering, with liquorice, walnut and an herbal edge.
