This is a single cask Tomatin single malt, selected by Master Distiller Graham Eunson to mark the 125th anniversary of the distillery. It was distilled on 11 June 1993 and bottled on 2 May 2022 at cask strength, 57.3% ABV, after more than 28 years in an Oloroso sherry butt.
The butt is similar to the type of cask that would have been used in 1897, the year Tomatin opened.
The nose begins softly, then shows coffee liqueur, flamed orange, caramel and black walnut, with pipe tobacco and eucalyptus following. The palate is full of sherry, with European oak spice, toffee, dark chocolate, liquorice and a touch of Assam tea. The finish is deep and rich, with raisins and chocolate returning after a brief dryness.
