Tomatin – 2010 12 Year Old Italian Collection Barolo Cask (70cl, 46%)

A Highland single malt from Tomatin, distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2023 at 12 years old. It is a small batch release and one of three bottlings in the distillery's Italian Collection. After its first maturation the whisky was finished in casks that previously held Barolo, the rich red Italian wine. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, without added colour or chill filtration. The nose is mulled wine and dark chocolate. On the palate come spiced mead and cranberry, with fresh grapefruit underneath, and the finish carries light tannin and sugared almonds.
