This is a 36 year old Tomatin single malt, bottled at 46% ABV as Batch #11 and supplied in a wooden display case.
It matured in a mix of ex-bourbon casks and ex-oloroso sherry butts. Two thirds of the whisky spent more than seven years finishing in ex-oloroso sherry butts, while the remaining 34% came from refill casks.
The nose is lively, fruity and floral, with tropical fruit layered with winter spices from the oloroso butts. The palate is rich yet sweet, with fruit giving way to oaky flavours of raw heather honey and roasted chestnuts. The finish is very long, with waves of fruit fading into winter spice.
