Cù Bòcan Creation #9 is a limited edition Tomatin single malt, distilled in 2008 and bottled at 46%. It takes its inspiration from sweet and salty cinema popcorn.
Most of the whisky spent more than 17 years in American virgin oak, and a part was then finished in Manzanilla sherry casks. The malt was lightly peated, up to 15 ppm, and after the long maturation the smoke sits quietly behind the cask character.
The nose offers vanilla, honey and caramel with salted popcorn and roasted almonds. Baked apple, ripe pear and citrus follow on the palate, and the long finish carries cinnamon, toasted nuts and a salty, maritime note.
