Tomintoul – 15 Year Old Peaty Tang (70cl, 40%)

Tomintoul 15 Year Old Peaty Tang is a Speyside single malt made from peated malted barley, which gives it a smoky character unusual for the region. The smoke sits alongside a soft malt character rather than covering it. It matured for 15 years in carefully selected oak casks and is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery lies in the Cairngorms National Park. The nose has gentle smoke reminiscent of heather, balanced by creamy sweetness and spicy oak. On the palate the smoke is clear, rounded by soft malt and mild spice. The finish stays soft and smoky, with a touch of barley sugar.
