Tomintoul – 1977 Vintage Single Cask (70cl, 54.9%)

This is a single cask single malt from Tomintoul, a 1977 vintage bottled at 54.9% in a 70cl bottle. It has an amber-mahogany colour. Sherry and raisins lead the nose, with fruit cake, toffee, chocolate and hazelnuts alongside glacé cherries and orange peel marmalade. The palate is sweet, with muscovado sugar, vanilla, fruit cake, raisins and orange peel marmalade, finished with a cigar-box spice. The finish starts sweet and rises, then gives way to spice.
