Tomintoul 21 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from the Tomintoul Distillery, founded in 1965 in the Cairngorms National Park. Master Distiller Robert Fleming chooses the ex-bourbon American oak barrels for this expression. The whisky is unpeated and is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
The distillery uses soft water from the Ballantruan spring and tall stills.
The nose is ripe, with soft nougat, red grapefruit, sweets, dried cranberries and a fresh herbal note. The palate shows baked apple, honeycomb, orange peel, Danish pastry and Turkish delight, with sweet toffee, white pepper and oak spice. The finish is fresh and tingling, with apple strudel, cedar and cinnamon.
