Tomintoul – Amarone Cask Finish (70cl, 40%)

This is a Speyside single malt from Tomintoul with no age statement, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It was first matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks and then finished in Italian Amarone wine casks. Master Distiller Robert Fleming chose the whiskies, which were married before the finish. It belongs to the Contemporary Cask Finish Collection, alongside Madeira and Tempranillo finishes. It is chill-filtered and has no added colour. The nose has cherry crumble and sultanas with baking spices, oat biscuit and cocoa. The palate brings summer fruit dessert, raspberry coulis, ginger biscuit and salted caramel, with panna cotta and cedar spice. The finish is long and warming, with honey, raisin porridge, pink pepper and chocolate cherry liqueur.
