Tomintoul Cognac Cask Finish is a small-batch Speyside single malt created by Master Distiller Robert Fleming and bottled at 40% ABV. The whisky first matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. Selected whiskies were then married together and finished in hand-selected Cognac casks from France.
The finish brings sweetness, fruit and nutty notes to the distillery's smooth malt character.
The nose is light, with chestnut, lemon rind, blossom honey and amaretti biscuits, plus hints of chamomile and fennel. The palate has choux pastry, Chantilly cream, sugared almonds, butterscotch, golden raisins and a little rolling tobacco. The finish is warming and lingering, with white chocolate, panettone and nutmeg fading into ginger spice.
