Tomintoul – Madeira Cask Finish (70cl, 40%)

This is a small batch Tomintoul single malt from Speyside, part of the Cask Finish Collection, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is chill-filtered and has no added colouring. Master Distiller Robert Fleming selects and marries the whiskies, which matured in ex-bourbon barrels of American oak. They then continue maturing in chosen Madeira wine casks from the Portuguese Madeira islands. The nose has summer berries and spicy fruit with ginger biscuit, chocolate orange and baking spices. On the palate come juicy cantaloupe melon, blackberries and candied citrus peel, with chocolate mousse, sweet oat pastry with syrup and toasted oak. The finish carries cake spices and cocoa, with ripe banana, vanilla panna cotta and orange marmalade.
