Tomintoul – Peated (70cl, 40%)

Tomintoul Peated is a Speyside single malt made from peated barley malt and matured in ex-bourbon barrels of American oak. Bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle, it adds a restrained campfire note to the distillery's sweet, fruity style. Nutty, sweet and spicy impressions sit alongside the smoke. It is not chill-filtered... The nose pairs sweetness with sooty campfire smoke, ginger biscuits, coffee grounds and smoked meat, with a faint nettle freshness. On the palate, hazelnut and smoked bacon meet toffee and dark sugar syrup, with toasted oats, peat smoke, sweet liquorice and lemon peel. The finish stays nutty and smoky, with coffee cake, green pepper and roasted pecans.
