This is a Tomintoul single malt matured in ex-bourbon barrels and finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry butts from Andalusia, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is a small-batch release.
Master Distiller Robert Fleming selected whiskies matured in American oak bourbon barrels, vatted them together and gave them the sherry finish. The whisky is not smoky.
The nose combines sweet dark sugar syrup and dried figs with raisins, malty fruit bread and baking spices. The palate brings fruit cake and banana bread, then dates filled with marzipan, roasted walnuts and sultanas, with fine clove and cinnamon. The finish recalls Danish pastry, cocoa powder and syrup-soaked sponge, fading to warm oak and tobacco.
