Tomintoul Tawny Port Cask Finish is a small-batch Speyside single malt from the distillery's Cask Finish Collection. Master Distiller Robert Fleming chose whiskies first matured in ex-bourbon American oak barrels, married them together, then finished them in selected Portuguese tawny port barriques.
It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle, with no added colour.
The nose combines berries and blackberry jam with dark chocolate, nutmeg and cherry liqueur. The palate has blackcurrant and blueberry, hints of Black Forest gateau, oak spice and mocha. The finish recalls maraschino cherries and orange marmalade with coarse peel, turning gradually to lingering clove and cinnamon.
