Tomintoul – Tawny Port Cask Finish (40%)

This is a Tomintoul single malt bottled at 40%, finished in Tawny Port casks. It was put together by master distiller Robert Fleming as a small batch, using casks selected from the distillery's stocks. The whisky first matured in ex-bourbon American oak, then went into hand-picked Tawny Port barriques from Portugal for its finish. The nose offers dark berry fruits, bramble jam and dark chocolate, with nutmeg and cherry liqueur. On the palate come blackcurrant, blueberry and Black Forest gateau with oak spice and mocha. The finish carries cherry and thick-cut marmalade, fading to cloves and cinnamon.
