Tomintoul – Tundra (1L, 40%)

This is Tomintoul Tundra, a single malt without an age statement, bottled at 40% in a one-litre bottle. It was matured entirely in ex-bourbon casks of American oak. The name refers to the tundra, with its icy winters and lively summers. Tomintoul distillery sits apart from many Speyside neighbours, 268 metres up on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park. The nose brings toasted oak and caramelised pear, with marzipan and white chocolate. The palate is creamy and nutty, with vanilla and stone fruit. The finish is long and warming, with a touch of orchard fruit and sweet spices.
