Torabhaig Taigh is an Isle of Skye single malt and the first permanent core expression from the Torabhaig distillery, which was founded in 2016 on the Sleat Peninsula. The name is Gaelic for house. It is bottled at 46%, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The whisky was matured in first-fill and refill ex-bourbon casks with a touch of ex-Madeira. The barley is peated to 55-60 ppm.
The nose offers gentle hearth smoke with sea tones, baked apple, maple syrup, raisins and cinnamon. The palate brings vanilla custard and cream, toasted almonds, sweet dried fruits and warming spices over subtle smoke, and the finish is soft and lingering.
