Trade Mark X is a blended Scotch whisky from James Eadie, revived from a nineteenth-century blend. Master blender Norman Mathison built the recipe from Eadie's surviving purchasing books and a 1940s bottle tasted with a panel of experts. It uses only whiskies from distilleries that Eadie himself bought from.
The malt and grain whiskies matured in American oak and sherry casks. It is bottled at 45.6% ABV in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and without added colouring.
Tasting notes describe icing sugar, raisins and hay on the nose, then dark chocolate with chilli, plums and marzipan. The palate has mint chocolate, syrup and roasted coffee with soft peat behind, and the finish is long and syrupy.
