Transcontinental Rum Line Australia 7 Year Old 2014 (70cl, 48%)

This is a seven-year-old aged rum distilled in Australia in 2014 from molasses in pot stills. It spent its first years maturing in the hot, dry Australian climate, then moved to Europe for a slower, cooler period of ageing in ex-bourbon casks. It is bottled at 48%, non-chill filtered, with no additives or colouring. The nose is rich with caramelised sugar, dried fruit, oak spice, banana bread, vanilla and molasses. The palate is full-bodied, with toffee, honey, roasted nuts, tropical fruit and gentle pepper, plus a little oak and cocoa. The finish is long, with dark caramel, spice and vanilla, and a touch of smoke and sea salt.
