Transcontinental Rum Line Panama 6 Year Old 2015 (70cl, 43%)

This is a Panamanian aged rum, distilled in 2015 from molasses on a column still and bottled at 43% ABV after six years. It spent its early years maturing in Panama's tropical heat, then moved to Europe for slower secondary ageing in ex-bourbon casks. It is bottled without added sugar or colouring and without chill-filtration. The nose is fresh, with golden syrup, vanilla, tropical fruit, banana, oak and toffee. On the palate honey, brown sugar and ripe pineapple meet soft spice and oak, moving to molasses and cocoa. The finish is clean and medium-long, with caramel, fruit and a little pepper.
