Tullamore D.E.W. 12 Year Old Special Reserve (70cl, 40%)

Tullamore D.E.W. 12 Year Old Special Reserve is an Irish blend with a high share of pot still and malt whiskey. It combines three styles, pot still, malt and grain, each triple distilled. The whiskeys are matured for between twelve and fifteen years in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, including some that previously held oloroso. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The brand's initials come from Daniel Edmund Williams, who ran the Tullamore distillery at 25. The nose opens with spice and red wine notes, then nuts and a little wood. The palate is creamy and full, with chocolate, dried fruit and nuts forming a praline character. The long finish carries citrus, chocolate, raisins and marzipan.
