Tullamore D.E.W. 14 Year Old is a triple distilled Irish single malt, made entirely from malted barley and matured for at least fourteen years. Most of that time is spent in ex-bourbon casks.
For the final stretch the whiskey is divided between Oloroso sherry, port and Madeira casks, then the parcels are recombined, giving a four cask finish. It is bottled at 41.3% ABV.
The nose is fruit driven, with ripe apple, sweet citrus and tropical fruit set in vanilla oak, with a soft honeyed sweetness behind. The palate is rich and sweet, with orchard and stone fruit up front, followed by dried fruit and dark honey from the fortified wine casks.
