Tullamore Dew – 18 Year Old (70cl, 41.3%)

Tullamore Dew 18 Year Old is a triple-distilled Irish single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 41.3%. It matures for 18 years in ex-bourbon casks, then spends at least six months finishing in Oloroso sherry butts, port pipes and Madeira drums. It is chill-filtered and has added colour. The D.E.W. in the name comes from the initials of Daniel Edmund Williams, who began as a stable boy at 15 at the Tullamore distillery, which the brand dates to 1829. The nose combines malty sweetness, warm cinnamon, baked apple, dried fruit and peppery spice. Soft fruit, vanilla, toasted bread and fresh malt bread follow on the palate. The finish is rich and warming, with butterscotch, fruit cake and milk chocolate.
