Turntable Spirits Bittersweet Symphony Blended Scotch Whisky (70cl, 46%)

A blended Scotch whisky from Turntable Spirits, the Glasgow blending house, and part of its core range. It marries malt from Craigellachie, Blair Athol and Balmenach with North British grain whisky, and is bottled at 46%. The blend draws on Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks as well as virgin oak. The robust Craigellachie and Balmenach malts were chosen so that the sherry would not mask their character. It is bottled without chill-filtration or added colour. The nose is fruity, with blackcurrants and ripe figs, honey and a hint of chilli. The palate is full and malty, with chocolate, roasted hazelnuts, raisins and dates, and a fiery spice. The finish is long, with oak, dark chocolate, cocoa and a date-syrup sweetness.
