This is a cask strength rye whiskey from Very Olde St. Nick, bottled at 58.3% ABV (116.6 proof) as a barrel-proof expression. The brand was among the first to take on unusual single barrels of good whiskey at a time when few people wanted older barrels. The rye barrels for this release were chosen before the heat of summer could claim a larger angels' share, which gave the bottling its name, Summer Rye, a play on "Samurai".
