Very Olde St. Nick Summer Rye is a rye whiskey bottled at cask strength, 59.5% ABV (118.9 proof). Very Olde St. Nick was the first brand to take up unusual barrels of whatever good whiskey it could find, at a time when few people wanted old barrels beyond the international market. The rye barrels for this release were chosen before summer heat could claim a larger angels' share. That gave the whiskey its name, Summer Rye, a play on "Samurai".
