Westward American Single Malt Stout Cask Finish (75cl, 46%)

Westward American Single Malt Stout Cask Finish is a 46% ABV single malt from Portland, Oregon, in a 75cl bottle. It is made from 100% Pacific Northwest two-row malted barley and double-distilled in low-reflux copper pot stills. It won a Gold Medal at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The whiskey is aged first in new, heavily toasted American white oak, then finished for about a year in casks seasoned with stout. Westward lends its used barrels to Oregon breweries, which fill them with stout before they return to Portland. It is typically described as having hazelnut, honeycomb and roasted barley on the nose, with milk chocolate, banana and almond toffee on the palate. The finish brings oaky vanilla, chocolate almond, mint and citrus.
