Westward Pinot Noir Cask is an American single malt whiskey made in Oregon and bottled at 45% in a 750ml bottle.
The whiskey is finished for up to two years in French oak casks that previously held Pinot Noir from producers in the Willamette Valley. The distillate itself is fermented with an ale yeast, which gives it a malty character.
On the nose there is cherrywood smoke, pipe tobacco and candied orange peel. The palate offers raisin, fig and dried apricot, then caramel, espresso and pecan, with oak building to plum skin and nutmeg. The finish is long, with dark chocolate, clove and a leathery dryness.
