Westward – Single Barrel Sourdough American Single Malt Whiskey (70cl, 45%)

Westward Single Barrel Sourdough is an American single malt whiskey bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from a mash of 100 percent malted barley. The distinctive step is fermentation with wild sourdough yeast cultivated in-house at the distillery, followed by ale-style fermentation, double pot distillation and maturation in new American oak casks. Each barrel is hand-selected for its fermentation-led character. The nose has toasted sourdough crust, sour cherry, beeswax and orange marmalade over vanilla and dry oak. On the palate are stone fruit, brown butter, lemon zest and honeyed grain, with clove, cinnamon and roasted hazelnut. The finish is long, of tart apple, oak char, salted caramel and toasted grain.
