Smoking Curse is an 8 year old Ardmore single malt Scotch whisky from the Whisky of Voodoo series by the independent bottler Brave New Spirits. It is bottled at 52.8% in a 70cl bottle, and 522 bottles were filled.
It was matured in an ex-Cognac barrel and an ex-Laphroaig cask, so the Highland peat of Ardmore meets the peat of Islay, with a soft wood smoke from the toasted French oak of the Cognac cask.
The nose offers charred rosemary, sun-baked peat, smoked oak shavings and coffee, with honey syrup, dry barley and mint drops. On the palate are salted caramel, dried orange, wine gums, plums and balsamic glaze. The finish is long and subtle, with Christmas spices.
