WhistlePig 10 Year Old is a straight rye whiskey made from a 100% rye mashbill and aged for at least ten years. It is bottled at 50% ABV, without chill filtration, in a 750ml bottle.
The spirit was distilled at Alberta Distillers in Calgary, Canada, then finished and bottled at WhistlePig Farm in Vermont. It matured first in new American oak barrels and was then finished in ex-bourbon barrels.
The nose is fresh peppermint and thyme, with allspice, orange peel, anise, honey and vanilla. The palate opens with caramel and vanilla, then rye spice, mint, burnt orange and butterscotch. The finish is long and warming, ending dry and peppery.
