Wild Turkey 101 Kentucky Straight Rye is made under Master Distillers Jimmy and Eddie Russell and bottled at 101 proof, in a 75cl bottle. It spends a minimum of four years in deeply charred new American oak barrels.
The rye mashbill includes a generous amount of corn, which gives a sweeter, more approachable core than the dry, herbal character of high-rye mashbills. It is used in cocktails such as the Manhattan and Old Fashioned, and is also drunk neat.
The nose is rye spice, vanilla, dark caramel and charred oak. The palate shows rye pepper, honey and clove, and the finish is long and spicy.
