Wild Turkey – Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon (70cl, 58.4%)

This is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Wild Turkey, bottled at barrel proof. The 2018 batch is 58.4%. It matured in heavily charred oak barrels and is a marriage of barrels aged 6, 8 and 12 years. It is bottled in batches at their natural strength, so the character shifts slightly from one release to the next. The nose offers vanilla, sticky caramel, burnt toast, spice, spring flowers and black pepper. The palate is intense and robust, with tobacco, orange, spiced fruit cake and dry oak. The finish is medium in length but strong, with caramel, resin and nutty notes.
