Willett 23 Year Barrel 296 is a single barrel wheated bourbon, distilled on 6 April 1993 at the Bernheim Distillery by Master Distiller Ed Foote and aged for 23 years in new charred American oak. It is bottled at 67% ABV in a 75cl bottle and comes in a tube, under the Willett Family Estate label. Wheat replaces rye as the secondary grain in the mash bill, which gives a softer, sweeter and rounder character than high-rye recipes. The nose offers antique oak, maple syrup, dark cherry, cigar box and toasted pecans. The palate brings burnt sugar, vanilla bean, dark chocolate and aged leather, with baking spice, tobacco and charred oak. The finish is very long, with mature sweetness and lasting warmth.
