Willett Family Estate Bottled Small Batch Rye is a three year old Kentucky straight rye from the Willett Distillery in Bardstown. It is bottled at cask strength, 54.8% (109.6 proof), and is not chill-filtered.
It marries two Willett rye mashbills, one high in rye and one lower, to give a fruit and spice character in the manner of Maryland style rye. The whiskey spent three years in hand selected charred American white oak.
The nose offers tart and brandied cherry, baking spice, cinnamon and vanilla. The palate is full bodied, with dark cherry, charred vanilla, caramel and peppery rye, and the finish is long, with spice, toasted grain and cherry.
