This is a 10 year old Ledaig from 2008, bottled at 50% by the independent bottler Wilson & Morgan. Ledaig is the smoky malt from the Isle of Mull, the island's only distillery.
The smoke is heavy, yet the whisky stays clean and sharp, with a citrus character and a cool coastal freshness that remain intact after ten years. It is free of overly sweet vanilla or cask fruit.
In the glass it is very dry and maritime, with salt and iodine alongside strong tar-like notes.
