Wolfburn – 10 Years

Wolfburn 10 Years is a single malt from the Wolfburn distillery in Thurso, the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland. It is the first Wolfburn bottling with an age statement. The spirit matured entirely in carefully chosen second-fill Oloroso sherry casks for ten years. The whisky is copper in colour. The nose leads with sherried fruit, soft layers of dates, figs and sultanas, then oak vanilla and melted butter. On the palate come rich chocolate and dark fruit, with caramel, vanilla, nutmeg and oak smoke. Silky tannins shape the finish, which stays sweet with dried fruit and caramel.
